How should roundabouts be navigated in Croatia?

  • Approach the roundabout with caution, giving way to traffic already on the roundabout coming from your left.
  • Stay in the right-hand lane if you intend to take the first exit of the roundabout.
  • Use the inner lane if you're going to take any exit after the first and signal before you exit.
Could anyone who's familiar with the traffic rules in Croatia help me out here? Recently, I've been planning a trip and I’ve heard that there might be some unique rules or habits regarding how to navigate roundabouts there. I’m not exactly a novice driver but I want to ensure that I don’t unintentionally break any traffic rules during my trip. Is there anything different I need to be aware of when driving through roundabouts in Croatia compared to other countries in Europe? Do you yield to the left or right? Do you signal when exiting the roundabout? Any personal experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Roundabouts in Croatia generally follow the same rules as elsewhere in Europe. You yield to cars already in the roundabout and always signal when exiting. Drive cautiously and you'll be fine. If you've driven in roundabouts in other European countries, you should adapt quite easily. Safe travels!

Does anyone know if there are specific roundabouts in Croatia where the rules might be a bit different, perhaps due to local traffic conditions or road layout? Also, are there any times during the day when traffic is particularly heavy around major cities like Zagreb or Split that I should avoid? Any tips on that would be really helpful!
