Are there any famous film locations to visit in Croatia?

  • Croatia's Dubrovnik Old Town is a major filming location for the popular TV series Game of Thrones.
  • The island of Vis was transformed into a Greek setting for the musical sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.
  • Diocletian's Palace in Split served as a backdrop for several scenes in Game of Thrones.
Just caught a flick the other day and noticed at the end credits, the shooting location was Croatia. You know, got me thinking. Is there any chance there are some famous film locations that one can visit over there? I mean, the cinematography was stunning, and I'd love to explore some of these sights on my next vacation. Any heads up will be much appreciated!

Couldn't agree more about the scenic beauty in the Game of Thrones! Was mind-blowing. Anyone knows if we could get a guided tour for that particular location?

I've heard a little buzz about Mamma Mia! shot in Vis Island. Suppose it's a charming little gem right out of a fairytale! Any locals can share more about it?

Agree with you all, Croatia seems to be the hotspot for filmmakers. Would love to see locations from The Hitman's Bodyguard next time I'm there. Awesome talk, guys!

To be honest, don't think visiting a film location makes sense. It's just regular spots repurposed for a scene. No big deal really.

Thinking about it, how cool would it be to stand exactly where scenes from some of your favorite movies or series were shot? Brings a whole new perspective to the watching experience. Might even have to rewatch all of them when back from the trip!

Anyone know if they have guided tours for these locations? Wonder how different they look without all the film filters and edits.

Well, sure the backdrop is good on screen, but wondering if it's the same when you actually get there. It could be all camera tricks and lighting, right?

Definitely, the real thing can sometimes be quite different from the cinematic version, but it's often worth checking out for the vibe and history!
